So some of you may have heard of eating honey can help with your allergies. Is this true or fiction? Well, I’ve been putting it to the test for the last two months. After moving to the Cincinnati area, I started to develop really bad allergies. I mean, I know I have allergies, but come on not like this. Everyone I talk to who moves here saying the same thing. That they develop allergies that they never had before or their allergies get worst. They say it’s the valley. Whatever! I knew I needed to put a stop to this, or at least slow it down somehow.
So my husband told me about getting some local honey and trying it. Huh? What? HONEY! Well, it’s said that honey contains bits and pieces of pollen, which is part of the issue with allergies. So by eating honey, it should help your immune system build up against these allergies. But the key to this is….it needs to be LOCAL honey. Now, in my quest for helping my poor nose and eyes, I went to a few local places to buy honey. I got one from a Kentucky farmer’s market and one Ohio honey from Whole Foods. Now the thing is with this honey, it needs to be organic, or raw, because if not most of the pollen that you need is taken out. And that’s not going to help you.
So I’ve been eating honey for the past two months on everything, but mostly drinking it in my hot tea. And for the most part, I think its’ working. Well, my allergies aren’t gone per say, but they have lessened a bit. And I’m happy with that. So next time you sneeze and think – “oh god, my poor allergies, as an ocean runs from your eyes,” pick up some honey and give it a try. You never know that little honey bee may just help you, besides the flowers.
Special Note: Some people may not be able to eat this type of honey, so ask your doctor just to be sure.
